Winter is slowly creeping up on us and before you know it we’ll be hit hard with yet another thick blanket of icy snow that freezes everything in its path. Snow and negative temperatures may seem unbearable, but there are plenty of ways to combat the dreadful winter blues. For starters, change up your environment to be a cozy, warm escape from the reality of what’s right outside your door. Little tweaks to your décor can transform a room to be more winter friendly. Rugs to keep your toes warm, blankets to snuggle up with while relaxing in front of the fire, and lamps that add a glowing touch inside your home.
Just because you can’t see lively plant life blooming outside, doesn’t mean it’s gone for good. Take a couple succulents or whatever plants you please and bring them inside to add a little life back.
Everyone knows that holiday parties are where the best food and drinks can be found. Invite some friends over for a fun celebration and create an area that’s pleasing to both the eyes and the taste buds. Festive vintage glasses and plates paired with a bottle of wine (or two) and a creative table set up will take everyone’s mind off the dreary cold.
Seasons change and so should your living space. Small changes can have a big impact on your mood this winter and help keep your spirits high. Try experimenting with different color schemes, textures, and styles in your home until you find the right fit. Go for deeper hues to reflect the winter ambiance or lighter shades to emulate an airy sparkle like that of fresh snow.
However you decide to redecorate this winter, keep it tailored to your own style. The majority of the winter is spent indoors staying away from the brisk weather, so make sure to keep it comfortable. Light a candle, throw on a couple blankets, and embrace the snowy days.
